Compatibility analysis of terminal and network (2007)

Hantele’s creative compatibility analysis of terminal and network can help the operator to solve customer complaints caused by terminal performance, and considering the integration of the terminal and the service of network department provides better guidelines to marketing department, especially for customization. We study all terminals brands and their performance distribution, from both voice and data services, by tracking the vast signaling information from major interfaces (A,Gb,Gi), retrieve the terminal information and proceed the filter analysis. Then Hantele concluded the analysis and provided useful information for operator to solve terminal related complaints, effectively promote brands terminals by eliminating the disturb by terminal performance.

【Case description】
The terminals  stayed at the status of “Packet Transfer” after the PDP context connection is established; GGSN assigned the dynamic IP address to the terminals at this status for they to perform web page browsing, sending & receiving MMS, or accessing different kinds of rich & colorful resources from the network by other ways, then all kinds of data traffic will be happened according to the content-based charging rules for every terminal performing such activities.

【Case analysis】
Hantele analyzed active models of Nokia and SonyEricsson with traffic contribution at the top 20 under one site. Among them are Nokia N73, N70, N72 contributed the largest traffic volume to M09 site.  We found the EDGE supporting ability of those Nokia terminal as below:

From the STS it is easier to find those Nokia terminals with well EDGE supporting contributed much more data traffic than those with only GPRS supported. We recommended the operator should intensify the penetration of those terminals by marketing promotion and business strategies besides speeding up the EDGE network expansion. Hence to improve the utilization of network resources and increase the revenue.
