WAP Service performance analysis
WAP service performance analysis for GZMCC and CMHuB (2008) Hantele designed WAP service performance improvement breaching of tradition analysis. We combined the testing and signaling data collection, tracking and analyzing the signaling data closely related to GPRS services (Um, Gb). We even analyzed the interfaces of the application layers related to WAP gateway (Gi, Gw). From the users perception point of view, Hantele carry out an end-to-end analysis to the WAP gateway, find out the key factors that affects WAP performance, sorting out the signaling procedure for WAP1.x (WTP,WAP) and WAP2.x (TCP,HTTP) for further improve the WAP gateway performance. Service Case: Some terminals occurs some Abort with “Unknown” which affect the users’ perception for data services. (Problem description) By analyzing the packets captured from the interfaces related to WAPGW, we found many terminals occur “Unknown Abort” during the process of requesting connection to WAPGW. The signaling report is depicted below:
The list of the terminal types that occur Unknown Abort during connecting to WAPGW. Hantele find rules for triggering “Unknown Abort” for different manufacturers and types. For example, NOKIA terminals occur “Unknown Abort” at 26~27s, but SAMSUNG terminals at the time of over 69s. The affects of users perception is also different. We then concluded those “Unknown Abort” situations were caused by the bugs of the different terminal software design and made the appropriate recommendations. |
