Data service E2E delay Analysis

CMGD data service end-to-end delay improvement service(2008)

Hantele designed data service E2E delay improvement service by tracking and analyzing the vast signaling information collected from multi interfaces (Um, Gb, Gn, Gi)  We analyzed the duration of every step from the radio part through the core network,. We also considered the statistical distribution of duration at each interface where we can allocated the abnormal events with time consumed. Our analysis resulted in the identification of the major factors that caused slow responses or data dropping from the whole process. In conclusion, Hantele provided the optimization suggestion for parameter adjustment to the benefit the operator.

Service case

【Problem description】
When we carried out a PDP activation (APN=CMWAP) testing at a test spot, at 16:45:14, we found a completed PDP activation procedure with time delay reach 6400ms at Um.

【Analysis】
We linked up the signaling data from Gn and Gi for analysis, and found the time consumption at Gi for Radius Accounting is 33ms, which is normal. However, the response time at Gn for Create PDP Context is much longer. With further analysis we found there was a repeat of Create PDP Context Request happened, which caused a 4723ms PDP activation delay at Gn.

【Conclusion】
Although the long response duration was found at radio testing, the major reason was caused by repeating of request at Gn, we further check the equipment at Gn.
